Terms of Service

Effective date: TBD (set on App Store release day) Last updated: 2026-04-19

These terms govern your use of Casemate ("the app"). By using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Who can use the app

You must be at least 17 years old and a medical or health-professions trainee (medical student, PA student, NP student, resident, or similar). You confirm this at onboarding.

2. What the app is — and isn't

The app is an educational simulation. You practice the diagnostic interview by talking to AI-generated patients. A rubric-based scorer gives directional feedback on your history-taking, reasoning, and communication.

The app is not:

Never use the app to treat, diagnose, or make decisions about a real patient. Never enter identifying information about a real person.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend a device identifier at our discretion if it violates these terms.

4. Content and license

Case materials, rubrics, and the patient persona prompts are © Casemate and licensed to you for personal educational use only. You may not redistribute them.

Transcripts you generate belong to you in the sense that your words are yours. You grant us a license to process them to score the encounter and to improve the app (including tuning rubrics and prompts). You may request deletion of your server-side transcripts per the privacy policy §5.

5. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent allowed by law, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. Simulation quality varies by case, network, and device. Scores are directional feedback, not a grade.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months (currently $0 — the app is free during beta).

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any clinical decision you make inspired by or related to using the app. Your professional judgment is your own.

7. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We can terminate or suspend access if you violate these terms.

8. Changes

We will post changes here and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. (Placeholder — founder to confirm before App Store submission.)
